A large antique 19th Century Japanese bronze Meji period incense burner/bowl, c1880. This is a substantial and finely cast piece, with great detailing and decoration.
It is a good weight at approximately 4.5kg, and stands on raised feet with very typical stylised handles. The main body has panels depicting mountains, villages, etc., and the rim is castellated with scrolled decoration.
It has aged well and has a lovely deep colour/patina. Overall condition is good, with only very minor surface wear, consistent with many years of use.
