A fine quality mid-19th Century Chinese bronze censor, c1870. The censor is nicely cast in figural form as a fish with Dog of Fo head. The casting and detail is very good, with the head, scales, etc., beautifully depicted. It stands on raised feet in the form of fish fins.
The censor has aged beautifully and has great colour/patina. We think it would have had a liner or hinged lid to cover the void where you place the incense, and if so then this is missing. Otherwise it is in good original condition commensurate with age and use.
